This is a wonderful product in almost every respect. KitchenAid would have a fantastic product here if it weren't for one fatal flaw.Even turned up to the darkest setting, this toaster refuses to add a single brown highlight to bread or english muffins, in one cycle. It's attractive, well made, the casing doesn't get hot when in use and you don't need an extension cord if your electric outlet isn't exactly where you want to keep it. It's also easy to clean and the bagel mode is one of those simple innovations that make you wonder why someone didn't think of it sooner. Bagels do slightly better, but even they need a little more than one full cycle to toast them to my liking.Perhaps if you want a toaster only to warm up pastries and to toast bagels very lightly this might be the toaster of your dreams. But if you're like me and you like your toast browned, keep looking.
First I did't wanted to buy this toaster but I am glad I did it makes great toast so yes I would recommend this toaster to anybody
I just found the Kitchenaid KTT340 to be somewhat disappointing and I usually don't with Kitchenaid products or from products that receive good Amazon customer reviews. In this case, it's just not a very good toaster, and usually requires one and a half tries before the toast comes out medium. For me, with the lighter/darker knob turned to darker, it comes out on the light side. I've had better toasters in the past at half the price.
We liked this toaster very much to start with, but then after 3 months it has stopped popping up reliably. You can't walk away from it, but have to watch it closely to make sure that this time it isn't going to just stay down and carbonize your toast. Far less reliable than I had hoped for from kitchenaid.
The magnetic "latch" just stopped latching after a months use. Takes two cycles to get bread toasted. Maybe because it is really meant for Bagels. It is useless now because the latch doesn't latch to hold the bread down. I expected better of KitchenAid.
